NETTVERK FOR DYRS FRIHET AGAINST MAXMARA (NORWAY)

During the whole week of action, the Nettverk for dyrs frihet (Network for animal freedom) were outside the shop Mara (former Max Mara store, now they sell a another brand too so they have changed name) with a message that Max Mara have to stop the sale of fur.

On Monday we met up with banners, posters and leaflets outside the store's windows for two hours. We continued this every day of the rest of the week. Up to ten people participated in the demo that were both clearly visible and audible.

Midway through the week we took in use a new tool - playing a CD with sounds from the Norwegian fur farms recorded this summer.
This was played on repeat and many reacted to the sounds of the animals screaming. We noticed that
this was a good way to bring the fur animals suffering to the people walking by.

Although the store is in a shopping street in Oslo's west side, where not only Mara is selling fur, we still got a lot of positive response. Everyone from schoolchildren to senior citizens supported the demands for a fur free MaxMara. In addition, there were several who stopped to talk with us and show their support.

Towards the end of the action week we observed the shop employees hanging coats without fur in front of the coats with fur, which seemed to be a poor attempt to hide away the fur they have for sale. Why not stop selling fur then, Mara?

We will continue with the campaign!
