WEEKEND OF ACTION FOR CAFT IN LONDON (UK)

Anti-Fur activists in London had a very busy weekend, supporting both the global week of action against Max Mara (9-15th Feb) and also the World Information Day Against Fur (WIDAF 13th - 15th Feb) organised by the Anti-Fur Coalition.

On Friday 13th Feb we started the weekend with a protest at Max Mara's UK head office in Albemarle St, W1, where Max Mara staff and bosses were left
in no doubt that their use of fur would be exposed and strongly opposed.

Then we walked to the main shop of Max Mara on Old Bond St just around the corner for further protests.

On Saturday 14th we had a very lively and effective day, with around 35 activists taking part throughout the day. First we returned to demo at the Max Mara shop on Old Bond St, where the staff were not amused to see us returning only a few hours after the last protest.
Since we had a lot ofactivists by now, we split into two groups and the second group held a demo just across the road at Marina Rinaldi on Old Bond St, which is owned by Max Mara as well. The staff here expressed their support for the protesters, and said they would contact head office and ask them to stop selling fur.

Later we also held a protest at Escada's London shop on Sloane St SW1, we had some visiting activists from Germany and Luxembourg who particularly enjoyed this demo. Once again we had two groups, so we were able to hold a simultaneous protest at Joseph's Sloane St branch just across the road.
Joseph has 15 shops in London, as well shops in New York, Paris, Nice, Dublin and Tokyo.

On Sunday 15th the action moved over to east London, where activists held a demo at La Moda in Brick Lane, which takes place every Sunday.
Brick Lane is a trendy area of London where small boutiques have sprung up in recent years which have been getting away with selling fur for too long, but that is now changing and a new campaign is now fighting back and promising a "Fur Free Brick Lane".
