RESPECT VOOR DIEREN IN ACTION AGAINST THE FUR TRADE AND MAXMARA CRUELTY  (HOLLAND)

Following a banner drop and flyer-action at the launch of Amsterdam International Fashion Week last weekend, activists undertook two more actions against the fur industry.

On Friday evening we targeted the catwalk show of Claes Iversen, a fashion designer infamous for his use of real fur, and recently rewarded for his lack of empathy with a prize from the Dutch Fur Institute. While politicians are planning to add the Netherlands to the growing list of countries in which fur farming is illegal, some designers are still clinging to the cruel fur trade. Attendees from the fashion industry were given flyers detailing the realities of the fur trade, and urged to go cruelty-free.

The next day, six activists protested at Max Mara, subject to a worldwide campaign, with demonstrations having already taken place this month in Spain, Luxembourg and Italy. For three hours, we gave out information to passing shoppers and urged them to boycott the company. Dutch activists will continue to target Max Mara until a full fur-free statement is released
